At another panel at the I Love APIs conference Van Alstyne, a professor at Boston University and researcher at MIT and the MIT Center for Digital Business, explained the findings of his work comparing companies founded on platforms rather than products. Van Alstynes work focuses on the economics of information and will be presented in more detail in an upcoming book. The main point of his research is that companies founded on platforms create much more value than those founded on products that are used in a much narrower context. By creating a platform, a company allows a large amount of external actors to interact with the company and each other and innovate in external link various ways. Apples iPhone by itself is a product, but all of the app stores, application development environments, wireless companies that surround it turn it into a platform. Googles search interface is product but the surrounding ecosystem for ad delivery makes it into a platform.

Education and infrastructure investment were issues Quinn touched on that resonated with Russ Slinkard, chief executive officer and president of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry . Slinkard said Quinn did a good job outlining his ideas for education and state infrastructure, but he also wished Quinn would have spoken more about the Illiana Expressway, which he only touched on briefly. He said Quinn offered a better presentation than his Republican opponent Bruce Rauner. I will say, I thought Quinn was much more forthcoming with what his vision was, what his direction would be [and] what he hopes to provide, he said. In June, when Rauner appeared in Joliet for a luncheon hosted by the Chamber, Slinkard said at the time he would have appreciated more details from Rauner about how he would enact his plans.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor doesn’t worship Tolkien, it challenges him – Yahoo News
Of Elves and Men Why Shadow of Mordor’s undead Elven hero and sexy Sauron are such a big deal There are moments when Talion is staring off into the distance and Celebrimbor will just appear and say, “Hey. You should be doing this.” Whenever Tal makes a major decision, CB (as he is referred to internally among the Shadow of Mordor team) is immediately there to comment. It’s less of a haunting or a possession and more of a devilish “angel on his shoulder” kind of relationship. Business Leaders as the Authors of the Future
This year, however, the Republican candidate, with less than two months before the election andstill a relative unknown, trailsthe Democratic incumbent by 21 points . While it is extremely likely that any Republican presidential candidate could win California in the 2016 election, even forcing the Democrats to spend resources to hold the state would be a strategic gain for the GOP. Similarly, if Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer does not seek a fifth term in 2016, winning that seat would be a very significant Republican pickup. It is in this contextthatthe Republican Party of California held itsconvention this weekend, and in which Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) made the keynote speech. Senator Pauls speech was significant not because it laid out the usual mix of opinions thathave made the Kentuckian one of the most interesting politicians in Washington. Executive genius is a kind of literary genius. A leader sees possible futures; their decisions create the future. When one uses their insight to envision the world in story form, one can sense how a corporations desire will rub against the worlds antagonisms before this friction sets events on fire. Story gives foresight to see the consequences of future events long before they happen. A leader prepares for change no matter how illogical its cause. In fact, sensitivity to irrational change is quintessentially rational.
